Using the most divine instrument - human voice, Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac was not only the founder of the choral music, in Serbia, but also the most precise music chronicler of his own time. The contemporary Serbian, music will remain under the influence of Mokranjac's music for good and will be celebrated by his followers.
   Negotin enjoys the privilege of being the place of origin of Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac.
He acquired his initial, musical knowledge here singing in the church choir, but then he left his hometown for the bright fame he was to gain all over the world as the oustanding
musician.

   THE MUSIC FESTIVAL "THE DAYS OF MOKRANJAC" Is the legacy bequeathed by Negotin. Every September, since 1966. the best choirs, performers and composers- everything considered to be the part of of the music scene of Serbia and the world, gather here in Negotin to celebrate the oldest festival of that kind in Serbia.
